School Administration

My name is Susan Campbell and I have served the Upper Darby School District for 25 years. I am thrilled to be the Principal at Hillcrest Elementary School. As an Upper Darby Alumna, my path to pursue an educational career began at West Chester University where I completed a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education. I began my teaching career at Upper Darby High School and taught Physical Education for 10 years. Onca a Royal, always a Royal! As I transitioned to Beverly Hills Middle School as a Physical Education teacher, I furthered my  education at Cabrini College to achieve a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership. I then became an Assistant Principal at Beverly Hills Middle School and maintained that role for 8 years prior to my transition to Stonehurst Elementary School as Interim Principal and eventually to Hillcrest as Interim Principal in October of 2021. I am now pleased to say that I am fortunate enough to serve as the Principal at Hillcrest.

My passion for working with children extends into the community as I have and continue to serve in various roles in the following capacities: coach for Drexel Hill Little League, Llanarch Little League, UDHL and a Board Member for SHL Hockey League. These roles allow me to see my own children as well as seeing the students that attend our schools grow in different capacities. I am a proud mother of five children who have all attended or are attending schools within the district. My oldest son moved on to become a United States Marine. My oldest daughter graduated from the University of Tampa and is currently serving the city of Tampa and a Police Officer. Middle two children are currenting attending college at West Chester University and St. Joseph’s University. The youngest of the group will be graduating from Upper Darby High School this year..

The new school year brings a strong perspective of what educators bring to the children of our community. Positive supporting relationships are a key piece to understanding our students and having the opportunity to provide a safe, supportive instructional environment that allows for both social, emotional and academic growth. I look forward to building positive relationships and maintaining a strong active community. There is nothing better than seeing students flourish in an environment that supports creativity and develops strong active minds.
